 Our favourite Red Rock game, Steal-The-Apples. Hello Adventurers! It was a wonderful week with all of you, and I know that everyone had fun with our games this week. We played a variety of games such as Egg Defender, a water relay, Steal-The-Apples, and trivia!  Maleah and Karson digging a hole to bury their egg. With our Foxes, we started with the Egg Defender game. The group was split into two teams: the red team and the blue team. Each team coloured their eggs and then we ventured into the woods to hide our eggs. The red team had to find the blue teams eggs and smash them and the blue team did the same to the red team. Maleah and Karson had the best hiding places! Then, we headed to the Ski Lodge and played a water relay game. With the same teams as before, one player from each team put a glass of water on their head and ran to a bucket and dumped their water into the bucket, trying not to spill any. After, we went into the Ski lodge and played trivia. Some questions were easy, and some took the teams a little longer to figure out, but it was fun nonetheless!  Logan and Damien planning their next attack for an apple. For the Ravens, we started with the same game as the Foxes, Egg Defender. It was so cool to see how differently the Ravens hid their eggs versus the Foxes. With eggs high up in trees and even in rotten trees, the Ravens loved this game and definitely enjoyed this game! Instead of competing in a water relay, the Ravens played one of our favourite Red Rock games, Steal-The-Apples! With two buckets containing thirty crab apples on opposite sides of the field, the teams had to cross the middle line and run to the other team’s bucket and grab an apple. Here’s the catch, whenever you crossed the line, the opposing team could tag you! Grace and Bella were so good at sneaking across the line and dashing to the apple-filled bucket and as the sun finished setting, we went into the Lodge and played some trivia. It was the best way to end a fantastic day.  Our winners, Sophia, Kennedy, and Serena, preparing for their next trivia question. Finally, with our Falcons, we began with Egg Defender. We knew how much fun the Foxes and Ravens had and knew that the Falcons would have just as much fun. Sophia and Amelia found the majority of the eggs for their team. Good seeking skills girls! Then, we walked back to play Steal-The-Apples. It wasn’t the Falcons first time playing this game but it was clear to me that they enjoyed just as much. After Egg Defender and Steal-The-Apples, we went into the Ski Lodge and played trivia like the Foxes and Ravens, only with harder questions. Some of the questions were: What is Mr. Paton's wife's first name? How many sets of twins go to Red Rock? And what road are we on right now? Sophia, Kennedy, and Serena won trivia with an outstanding 95%!  Charlie running back, ready to smash an egg that he found for his team. In the end, it was a week full of eggs, water, apples, and trivia questions. Thank you to everyone’s kindness and respect during this week. We have an exciting final week planned for all of you!

 Avery showing off her face painting and new hat. Hello Adventurers! It was a wonderful week, and I know that everyone had fun celebrating this spooky season with our Halloween games. We painted pumpkins, played the Sticky Marshmallow game, and had a potato race!  All of these silly Foxes showing us their pumpkins. For our Foxes, we began with some pumpkin painting. Waylon, MaryJane, and Sophia won the painting competitions with their creative pumpkins. Next, the Foxes split into pairs and stood back to back with a potato in between them. They had to run through an obstacle course without dropping their potato. It was tough, but they did great nonetheless. After our race with the potato, we headed back to the Lodge to play the Sticky Marshmallow game! One marshmallow smothered in sticky syrup was passed throughout the group. We then counted to twenty and whoever had the marshmallow at twenty, had to stick the marshmallow to their forehead. It was fun, and definitely sticky!  Ryker, Damien, Camden, and Jake in the process of painting their pumpkins. With the Ravens, we pumpkin painted to begin with our winners being Gabby, Remi, and Caleb! When we finished pumpkin painting, we moved onto face painting. The Ravens lined up and were given a Halloween face painting. After everyone’s faces were decorated, we competed in the potato race like the Foxes had done before us. We headed back to the Lodge where we played the Witch Switch game. There was a ‘winning seat’ and before the winner was selected, everyone had to switch places. It was intense, and made the Ravens get to know each other a lot better. Next, we went head to head, or back to back, in the potato race. All of the pairs did a fantastic job and all of the rounds were so close. Later, we went back to the Lodge and gathered our pumpkins for our next task: smash the pumpkins! Serena’s pumpkin was impossible to break but she didn’t give up. Everyone had so much fun crushing the pumpkins. Seeds everywhere, we started our trek back to the Lodge and played the Witch Switch game like the Ravens had done the day prior. It was so much fun, and I know that all of the Ravens enjoyed it.  Serena throwing her pumpkin at a tree, hoping that this throw will be strong enough to break her pumpkin. In the end, it was a week full of Halloween activities, in which all groups enjoyed. This week we have more tough and interesting challenges for you. It was an awesome week with all of you, and I know that all groups enjoyed our Red Rock Olympics! We split the groups into two and watch them win some challenges and lose some too. Our Olympics consisted of a potato game, an egg drop, a relay, and a slackline.  Georgia drops one of the Foxes' eggs. For our Foxes, we began by collecting as many potatoes as possible and putting them in buckets. Both team’s buckets were overflowing with potatoes! Next, we made a nest using materials that we scavenged in the woods. Georgia dropped an egg onto our nest and whatever team’s egg broke first, lost. It was a close and tough game but both teams didn’t lose hope. Our last Olympic game for the Foxes was a relay race where two competitors on each team chased each other around in a circle, with a sponge in hand. Whoever got soaked by the sponge, lost and it was onto the next teammate in line. The Foxes’ teamwork was out of this world as they all came together to come up with the best way to execute their success.  The Ravens balance on The Slackline. With the Ravens, we played the same potato game as the Foxes. Jake, Charlie, and Cohen knew where to get the best potatoes and led their team to success with our first game of the evening. Next, we moved onto the egg drop. The Ravens created a nest and watched their egg drop into it. Each group also wrapped an egg in materials such as mud, leaves, and grass as their next challenge consisted of them throwing their eggs onto the ground. We played a few rounds of the relay race but we knew that the Raven’s were tough enough for our next game in the Red Rock Olympics: The Slackline. A rope was tied in between two trees in which we stood on and had to change places with the opposite person in line. It was tough, but the Ravens persevered!  Zach throws potatoes into his team's bucket. Lastly, our Falcons piled the buckets with potatoes in our potato game. Buckets overflowing, we headed into the woods to drop our eggs! Both teams had very different approaches in creating their nests and wrapping their eggs but nonetheless, it was another close match. We competed in the sponge replay race and watched Marcus and Nolan speed through the course and soak their opponent. After everyone was worn out, we ran for our next game, The Slackline. It was difficult but each team successfully completed the game.  Charlie fluffs the nest that he and his team created. In the end, it was such a fun week as our teams competed in the Red Rock Olympics. It was great to see everyone’s teamwork and problem solving. This week, we have some spooky Halloween games ready and we can’t wait to see you all again!

It was a fantastic week with all of you, and I’m sure that everyone enjoyed all of the activities that we planned for this week. The Foxes made magical, wishful potions and made them bubble with fairy dust and alligator tears. Despite the rain, the Ravens competed against the Falcons in a photo scavenger hunt and played a real-life version of Guess Who. The Falcons played the scavenger hunt and Guess Who and finished off their evening by a few rounds of Wink Murderer.  Oliver watches his magic potion bubble over. Beginning with our foxes, we headed into the woods to scavenge for the potion ingredients. We had to look for items such as a pinecone, poplar leaves, dirt, and a purple flower. Whenever we all got our ingredients, we ran back to the Ski Lodge where we watched the magic happen. As Mr. Paton and Georgia delicately poured fairy dust and alligator tears into the potions, the Foxes had to make a wish. If their potion bubbled, their wish would come true! Oliver must’ve made an awesome wish because his potion bubbled and spilled over the sides of his jar. We can’t wait to see your wish come true!  The Raven's linked arms as they posed for another scavenger hunt photo. For our Ravens, we put on our best rubber boots and rain jackets as we embarked on our adventure. We started off by a photo scavenger hunt where there was a list of pictures we had to take and the Ravens were able to find all of the places with ease! After our scavenger hunt, we split into two groups and battled in a game of Guess Who. Each group had to ask ‘Yes or No’ questions to figure out who the opponent's person was. They were very close games and it was great to see the two team’s incredible teamwork.  A game of Wink Murderer ended our evening with the Falcons. Lastly, our Falcons competed against the Ravens in the photo scavenger hunt. With our Falcons finding and posing for the pictures just as quick as the Ravens, the competition ended in a tied game. After the scavenger hunt, we played Guess Who much like the Ravens did the previous day. To end off our day, we headed back to the Ski Lodge and played a few rounds of Wink Murderer. Sophie went around the group and selected a detective and murderer and watched the game unfold as all of the player’s played with confidence and sportsmanship.  I spy with my little eye. . . nine Falcons hidden amongst the trees. In the end it was a week full of tough challenges for all three teams but they persevered and finished them all. Thank you to everyone’s teamwork and kindness last week and we can’t wait to see you all again.

It was an awesome week with all of you, and I'm positive that everyone enjoyed our adventure to Kelly and Allan Kelly’s sheep farm! Kelly, Allan, and their son, Cameron, gave the all three groups a fantastic experience at their farm. They let the children feed the sheep, climb up and slide down the huge hill, and gave the children a chance to pet some of their sheep.  The Foxes scaled the steep hill. Beginning with our Foxes, we walked from the Ski Lodge to the Kelly’s farm where we were greeted by Nova, the farm’s dog. After everyone got a chance to meet Nova, Allan gave each Fox a piece of bread from the Seaside Bakery. They all fed their bread to the sheep and next, we climbed up the hill that the sheep stand on top of during the winter. It was a very steep hill that showed the kids how strong the sheep’s legs really are! Kelly, Allan, and Cameron took small groups of Foxes into their barn where they allowed the children to pet the sheep. Waylon and Maleah adored the sheep and how fuzzy they were.  The Ravens awaiting their next trivia question. For the Ravens, Cameron gave them some Seaside Bakery bread and they all fed the sheep as well. Next, we walked up to the stream and saw baby brook trout! On our walk from the stream and back to the barn, we had to stop and slide down the hill. Gabrielle, Maria, and Ella climbed up the hill and slid down over and over again. Later, we went into the cozy barn and played a round of sheep trivia! All of the questions that Kelly asked were so interesting and I’m sure everyone learned something new whenever we finished. After our trivia, much like the Foxes, we went into the barn in small groups and cuddled with the sheep. The Ravens loved the sheep!  Savannah and Amelia pet the sheep. Finally, it was the Falcon’s turn at the farm! Like the Foxes and Ravens, Kelly gave everyone a piece of bread and let them feed it to the sheep. After the feeding, it was the Falcon’s turn to see the brook trout. We saw a few, then went back to play on the hill like the other groups had done before. The Falcon’s played trivia like the Raven’s and they surprised everyone with how much they knew. We split up into small groups and got to play with the sheep. Savannah and Amelia coaxed the herd to them and pet them. The Falcons sure did learn lots about sheep on Thursday!  The Falcons feeding the sheep bread from Seaside Bakery. In the end, it was a week full of excitement at the Kelly’s sheep farm. Thank you to everyone’s respect and kindness last week. This week’s challenges are going to be fun and we can’t wait to see you all.

It was such a fun week with all of you, and I am sure that everyone enjoyed their time in the outdoors. The Foxes and Ravens completed their challenges which they were going to do this past week however, Hurricane Teddy cancelled our plans. They solved a word puzzle, played the marble game, and played Steal-the-Sticks with balloons. The Falcons played lots of games and completed alternate challenges such as a scavenger hunt throughout the woods, and played an intense game of Capture the Apples.  Elsa gives us her cutest smile while on our trek to the next letter of the word puzzle. Beginning with the Foxes, we played a word puzzle and they were given clues as to where the letters were hidden. Whenever we collected all of the letters, we assembled our word, “WONDERS”. After that, we moved on to play a game with pipes and marbles. Each Fox had a pipe and guided a marble throughout the series of pipes. Maleah’s problem-solving skills allowed the team to succeed with the most creative approach to the game. Later, we played Steal-the-Sticks but with balloons! It was fantastic to see the game unfold as the teams came up with different tricks to win. Brody’s idea to blow up the littlest balloons was awesome because none of his team’s balloons popped!  The Ravens make adjustments to their pipe-line and await their marble. For the Ravens, they began with the word puzzle as well, in which case, Cohen’s ability to find the jars containing the letters was superior! The Raven’s attempt at the marble game was a roller coaster as they changed their plan of attack multiple times. Although it was difficult, they took home the prize of fastest time guiding their marble through the pipes, 35.4 seconds. Next, we played Steal-the-Sticks and as the team played, Jake and Ryker gathered old potatoes which led them into first place this week for the most points. Those boys sure are competitive and care about their team. Thanks Jake and Ryker for your help!  Nolan swiftly grabbed an apple for his team. Finally, the Falcons had a different week compared to the Foxes and Ravens but it was clear to see that they enjoyed it just as much. We started off with a scavenger hunt where the Falcons had to find various items like a feather, pinecone, and fir tree needles. To end off the evening, we played Capture the Flag with old apples! Each team had their own strategies that led them to success. Both teams had a bucket of apples and they dared to cross the line to race for the opposing team’s apples. If you were lucky, you made it out without being tagged and with an apple in one hand. Great work Falcons!  Jake and Ryker show off their contribution to their team's bonus points. In the end, it was a week full of tough challenges that required patience and teamwork. Everyone’s participation and kindness goes a long way as we all work together as a team. I know that all three groups will have more and more fun as we continue through these autumn months. Thank you everyone and we’re excited to see you all again this week!

It was a different week, but I know that the Falcons made the best of it. Last week the team found and solved a word puzzle, guided a marble down a series of pipes, and battled in a balloon version of Steal-the-Sticks.  Isa and her team unscramble the letters of the puzzle. To begin, the Falcons had to put their puzzle-solving skills to work. Given tricky clues, they had to find letters throughout the woods to come up with their word, “WONDERS.” Thanks to everyone’s fantastic eyesight, they were able to find the letters easily, however, making the word was the hardest part. Isa’s intelligence came in handy as she and her teammates worked through all of the possibilities and made the correct word!  The setup that allowed the Falcons to set their record time in the Marble Race. Next, we moved onto the marble game. Each Falcon had their own piece of pipe and had to watch a marble roll down their pipes. Here’s the catch, whenever the marble went down the player’s pipe, they had to run to the end of the line and align their pipe with another player in order to make the assembly line long enough to reach the finish. Nolan’s height and Ava’s problem-solving was a big help to the team’s success.  This team discusses the best hiding spots for their balloons. For our final game, we ran back to the Confederation Trail and played a game of Steal-the-Sticks with balloons. Teammates hid their balloons alongside the trail in hope that the opposing team wouldn’t find them. With our game resulting in a tie, it was obvious that both teams had excellent hiding spots and worked flawlessly as a team.  Logan, Damien, Camden, and Caleb flash the camera their best model faces. In the end, although the challenges were difficult, the Falcon’s knew how to tackle them. It was awesome to see the team come together to solve the puzzle, navigate problems during the Marble Race, and compete in a game of Steal-the-Sticks.  The falcons walking back to the Lodge after an evening of challenges. Unfortunately, Hurricane Teddy took over the Foxes and Ravens last week. However, that won’t stop us from having fun with our challenges this week!

It was a thrilling week, and I am certain that everyone enjoyed getting outside after a day at school. It was an awesome experience feeling our sneakers soak with the cool stream and seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces as they dared to cross the Spider’s Web.  Brody hangs on as he scales the Spider's Web. Beginning with our Foxes, we painted our water bottles to prepare them for the river. Next, we headed into the woods for our Spider’s Web. Brody was the all-star by hanging upside down and crossing the web without touching the ground. Faith was one of the fastest climbers I’ve ever seen! Lastly, we moved onto the Bottle Race. We walked through the creek and guided our water bottles through the current. Shoutout to Lincoln for outstanding bottle-racing skills!  Raven's giving you their best funny faces after completing the Bottle Race. For the Ravens, they began by attempting the dreadful Spider’s Web. Their captain, Maria, was a great guide with her excellent climbing skills. Soon, we ran for the stream to compete in the Bottle Race. Sophia and Jake found sturdy sticks on our way to lead their bottle down the creek. To our surprise, Lexi and Serena were terrific bottle racers! Once we made it to the finish line, it was time to race back up the stream however, this way was harder because we had to go against the current. Kennedy gave the best advice to her teammates as they struggled up the river.  Avery in the net that the Falcon's created for their final challenge. The Falcons were yet again the most sabotaged group with the Ravens tying up their Spider’s Web into the best knots I’ve ever seen. It didn’t stop them though, they all scaled the web with ease with Caleb being one of our best competitors. Onto the stream we went with our water bottles and sticks in hand. Zach was a fantastic asset to the team, giving everyone tips and tricks on how to bottle race like a pro. It didn’t take long for Avery, Isa, and Cecelia to be soaked from head to toe, literally! We tied what was the Spider’s Web into a net and carried Avery and Brielle to the finish line! Excellent teamwork and problem solving is what I saw as I watched the Falcons go through this unique challenge. Marcus sure did have the heaviest load, but he persevered! In the end, it was a week full of surprises and tough challenges where we learned how to work together as a team and how to help others that needed it. We can’t wait to see you all this week, Sarah, Georgia, Sophie, and Mr. Paton  The Ravens search for one of the last hidden marbles Hello adventurers! It was a busy week to start off our season, and I am confident that everyone enjoyed exploring the woods and trails at the ski-lodge. It was a wonderful thing to hear the forests filled with laughter, and I've heard from quite a few trail-walkers that it was wonderful to have the kids out there again.  Jagesh shows off a treasure that he found Beginning with our Foxes, they started off by painting Fox-themed artwork, which will be sent home with the campers after the Red Rock this week. We all did pretty well to keep the paint off of ourselves, but a few of us went home with some fox-colors on our hands and arms. After that we moved on to our marble hunt, where Meleah was an expert hunter, and Jagesh and Hilary ensured that no marble went unfound. It wasn't long after our marble game that we moved on to the 'electric fence' where we hopped and climbed our way to victory. Shout out to Elsa for her valiant attempts at jumping. Then, to conclude, we made our way over to the hay bales, where some of the best climbers in Souris showed us their stuff.  The Ravens, hot on the trail of the hidden marbles For the Ravens, they began with a complex word-puzzle to solve, however their captain, Grace, was quick to lead them through it, and they were soon on to their own marble hunt, which had a set of twists and turns that far outreached that of the Foxes. Maria showed us what a marble-hunter she was, finding three in a row, while Cohen and Charlie lead the way down the trails. It wasn't long until they were ready for the electric fence game, where they fearlessly braved the rope, moving it higher and higher as they went.  It was big jumps over the electric fence! Many of the Falcons had the benefit of coming fresh off a summer season, so they were well versed in Red Rocking. They started off with a quick word puzzle solve, and then were off to the marble hunt, where they discovered that they had at times been sabotaged by the Ravens!  Falcons were quick to the solve the Red Rock puzzle Sabotage could do nothing to stop them, however, and they quickly raced their way towards the finish line, working feverishly to get over the ropes in time to eke out a win. Holding their own from the summertime, it was Falcons who scored highest this week, and they will be seeking to defend their title as we move on towards week two.  Working on the ropes in the woods Next week is shaping up to be a big one, where we will be exploring the 'spider's web', a perennial favorite, as well as finding our way down to the river where we will defend a fortress against invaders, but it will take all of our skills and bravery to come out on top.
