New for Summer 2020, Red Rock is providing a unique experiential program which will offer a new outdoor adventure every week of the summer.
Led by Mr. Nathan Paton, our experienced guide has years of practice in delivering immersive and adventurous educational programming for youth.
With a diverse range of activities being planned, each week will provide a new way to discover the hidden adventures that our Island has to offer. Through hands-on, experiential activities, participants will foster new friendships, learn unique skills, cultivate self-confidence, and make memories that will last a lifetime.
Our program’s one time registration grants your child access to an entire summer’s worth of adventures, is targeted towards students in Grades 6 and higher.
Our camp meets once per week, and each week's session last approximately three hours. We are located in Naufrage, PEI.
Activities may be modified to reflect participant interests, however some of the activities being considered include:
Making Dirt Shirts
Photo Scavenger Hunt
Campfire Skills + Storytelling
Treasure Hunt
Riverside Trail Hike
Beat the Tide
Cliffside Rock Walk
Confederation Trail Ride
Clamming on the Flats
Harbour Olympics
Making Dirt Shirts: A Red Rock signature event, be prepared to play dirty as you learn what it takes to make your very own dirt shirt. It’s messy work, but you’ll have a wonderful souvenir when you are finished.
Photo Scavenger Hunt: Thirty tasks. Four teams. Two Hours. One Winner. How many challenges can your team complete? You will be striking poses, doing dances, and re-enacting famous scenes as you snap photos on your way to victory with this amazing scavenger hunt.
Campfire Skills + Storytelling: This evening activity will teach participants how to build and maintain a campfire. Basic survival skills will be taught as we prepare to cook our own meals outdoors, and the experience will finish with storytelling under the stars.
Treasure Hunt:With nothing but a map and a riddle, your team will set off into the woods in search of buried treasure. There are clues to be deciphered, puzzles to be solved, and tricks and traps to be avoided. But the big question is who can be trusted?
Riverside Trail Hike: We will wind our way into the heart of the Island, hiking through deep-forested trails, climbing trees and trekking hills in search of everything the woods has to offer. Expect to see all sorts of wildlife, including eagles, trout, frogs, salamanders, waterfowl, and so much more.
Beat the Tide: Grab a shovel! This competitive game of sandplay has the entire group working as a team. When the tide goes out and the sandbars are exposed, the river which crosses the sand can be twisted and molded as we build walls, dams, and diversions to keep our sand city alive against the impending tide.
Cliffside Rock Walk: Part hike, part mountaineering, this walk from beach to beach across the rocks exposes the untouched beauty of the island. As we trek through the intertidal zone, we will discover seaglass, wildlife, and a whole lot more.
Confederation Trail Rides: Hop on a bike and come along for a group ride on the Confederation trail. See the sights and learn some history as we make our way along.
Clamming on the Flats: You’ll be working for your supper as we dig for clams on the sand flats. Learn all about these creatures and how to harvest them. Also included will be a close look at the seals, as well as a chance to search for seaglass and other treasures Harbour Olympics: Think you can throw a rubber boot the farthest? How about hop over a lobster trap? Can you crab-walk with the best of them? How’s your Jello slurping? Put your skills to the test as we determine a harbour hero in this throwback to Naufrage Harbour days.
